The Picturesque Port of Molyvos

10 June. It was a fine, albeit windy day which didn't prevent us from spending a relaxing afternoon at Petra beach. We even went for a dip in the Mediterranean which was considerably fresher than the tropical waters we have been used to these past months. Later we strolled round the medieval castle on a rock above the town of Molyvos, capturing the surrounding scenery in the early evening sunlight. At aperitif time (with ouzo, what else?), Flemming's ears picked up a Danish conversation at the next table and we had an enjoyable chat with our neighbours who have bought a house in Molyvos and live here for several months a year.

11 June. We spent the morning on Eftalou beach, stony but much prettier and wilder than Petra. A delicious lunch at the Panorama restaurant with, as the name might suggest, a superb view over Molyvos and the surrounding coastline and hills. We spent the afternoon in Molyvos and then drove back to Mitilini, taking the eastern coastal road this time. We booked into the Pyrgos, a charming small hotel in a 19th century mansion conveniently located between town and the airport for our early departure tomorrow morning. The only snag was that the receptionist was new to the job and didn't know the access code for the computer. Flemming therefore had to find an internet café in town. It was a noisy place full of youngsters playing computer games accompanied by loud music and even there, the printer didn't work so he was unable to print out a chart he could do with for tomorrow.
