Since they were out of fuel at both Mokuti Lodge and Immenhof, we had to make a detour to Tsumeb before flying on to Immenhof. That will teach us to always call ahead, as we practically flew over Tsumeb on our way to Mokuti from Grootfontein. Since it was Sunday, we’d had to call them on the Friday to arrange for refuelling on a weekend.
While refuelling, a man called out to us rather surprisingly in French. He turned out to be a retired Frenchman from Annemasse (near Geneva). While out walking his dog, he had seen the Swiss flag on Honey Mooney’s tail fin and stopped for a chat. He and his wife had moved a few years ago to Tsumeb and their house was just up the road from the airstrip.
We got a warm reception at Immenhof by the von Seydlitz family. Friedhelm and his wife Ria own the farm. Their son Werner recently married Annelien who came to pick us up at the airstrip. Immenhof is a guest and hunting farm. In addition to hunting with their guests, Friedhelm and Werner run a flying safari business using two Cessna 210’s. They were away on a flying safari while we were at Immenhof, so Flemming was rather disappointed that he couldn’t meet up with them and talk about flying in Namibia. Nevertheless, Ria also had a pilot’s licence and we enjoyed talking with her. And since the 210’s were away, Honey Mooney could be parked in their hangar.
