10 December 2007. We walked around the centre of Capetown, starting with the Old Mutual, with Ivan Mitford-Barberton’s amazing frieze about the history of South Africa and ending with the colourful Muslim Bo-Kaap district.
Then we jumped on a sailing ship for a sunset cruise in Table Bay. Angela wondered what her ancestors must have felt arriving by ship there almost 200 years earlier and seeing Table Mountain for the first time. Her 4xgreat-grandmother would have been in labour with her second daughter who was born on board ship while it was anchored in Table Bay.
On our return we had a late dinner at 'Den Anker' at the Waterfront, where we met up with South African micro-light Earthrounder Ricky De Angrela (RTW 2003/2004).

11 December 2007. We visited the charming small town of Franschhoek which has one of the loveliest settings in the Cape. The highlight was lunch at the elegant Grande Provence winery. It was Club Night at Stellenbosch Flying Club so we dropped in there and met several local aviators round the bar.
