Cape Town, Franschhoek, Cape Peninsula

12 December 2007. This was our day to tour the Cape peninsula. We left Somerset West early in fine weather, then hit rain as we drove through Constantia to Hout Bay on the west coast where we photographed another of Ivan Mitford-Barberton’s statues, the leopard, against grey skies. Fortunately it cleared up enough to have lunch outside at the Black Marlin near Boulders Beach on the east coast. Then we enjoyed a beautiful walk in bright sunshine from Cape Point to Cape of Good Hope. We drove back via the east coast and stopped at Boulders Beach to see the African penguins.

13 December 2007. Last day in South Africa. Packing, lunch at Steffanie's and a last little spin with Honey-Mooney over the pretty vineyards of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek before ‘tucking her up’ in her hangar at Stellenbosch Flying Club. Back to Europe tonight with South African Airlines. The journey continues after the Earthrounders meeting in March 2008.
