18 May 1793 Richard made his Will appointing Daniel PENNELL & Richard LEWIN his executors. (Daniel pre-deceased him). After bequests, the residue was vested in Richard LEWIN in trust.
1795 22 Apr retired
1797 June. Richard Pennell Esq. of EIMS "Hawke" his PCC Will proved. Execs Richard Lewin & Daniel Pennell. (deceased) so assigned to John Pope executor in trust.

1. Presented by Order of the Governor General in Council of Fort William in Bengal to Richd. Pennel Esq. of the United Company of Merchants of England Trading in the East Indies in testimony of the service which he has rendered to the company ( whose interests are essentially promoted by sea) in the great care & attention with which he executed the orders of the Government AD 1791 in accommodating in his ship a detachment of native volunteers from Bengal to Fort George, to reinforce the Army engaged under Earl Cornwallis in the War between the East India Company and Tippoo Sultan & in conciliating the Hindu soldiers to expeditions"
2. Inscription on Hawke Cup,originally belonging to Harry Lewin Pennell now in possession of Reginald David Lee Pennell. " Presented to Capt. Richard Pennell of the Hon'able Company's ship "Hawke" as a mark of esteem & respect in consequence of the civilities and attention experienced from him on a voyage from Madras to Bengal in Octr. 1790. By his Friends Isaac SCHOMBERG, Valentine COCK, John WRANGHAM, Thomas GREEN & Charles SUTHERLAND."
