108 | Curate of Welshpool Montgomeryshire 1850-1865 Vicar of Welshpool 1865-1887 Montford Bridge 1887-1900 I have a copy of his will which shows: That his daughters are right That he apparently had at least 2 brothers: William, who predeceased him and Major General J? T? Hill. JHH left WH's sword to JTH for his lifetime. Apart from WH's sword everything, including his Father's medals, sword, picture and papers (and presumably, the silver) went to his wife thence to his married daughters in order thence to Ella's eldest son (just born, my Father, WTHP.) Which seems to show that neither WH nor JTH had sons since they would presumably have got the sword, and indeed his Father's medals, etc. and probably the silver. It also shows, presumably, that Alice (Hawksworth) had no children nor was expected to have any. But then who was the father of Eustace, Frank and Jim who certainly existed, although not necessarily as 3 brothers, and who gave rise to, among others, Nesta and Michael? A note of my Father's says that he held on to the medals and sword (Lt Col JHEH's, don't know what happened to WH's) until he was sure there was a male heir to carry on the name. He gave them back to Michael in 1945. 22 Nov 97. I have sorted out most of the above thanks to a comprehensive Hill tree from Anne (widow of Michael). | HILL, John Edward (I0126)
